Attempted recall of biographical information influences face attractiveness

We examined affective consequences arising from the kinds of memory retrieval failures that often accompany social interaction. To do so, we measured influence cued-recall outcomes for biographical information on rated attractiveness faces. The data demonstrate names (Experiment 1a) and professions 1b) increases target faces relative to failed produce recall associative information. This was predicted by a confirmation search (COS) model originally developed verbal memoranda, which assumes bias during leads depending upon retrieval’s success or failure. current study extends this model, showing evaluative judgments individuals are in part contingent skills their assessors. conclude discussing potential extensions COS paradigm measurement implicit attitudes special populations.
